1. Transforming an Arms Race into a Peace Race would be an extremely difficult task that would take a lot of time. The world could not just decided to do this in just one day because there has been years of wars and bloodshed for people just to put weapons and war aside. But, my plan would be to raise awareness of peace and equality so that future generations may be able to think differently since they will be the future leaders of the world. Also i would emphasize art and technology as ways to "race" towards peace because art is a way for people to express emotions and skill in an non-violent way. Also a technology race would benefit the medical field because we would have more cures for diseases and infections.
2. The realms that Dr. Martin Luther King talks about are "the realms of spiritual ends expressed in art, literature, morals, and religion" and the realm of "complex devices, techniques, mechanisms, and instumentalities by means of the way we live. We can balance our technological and moral abundances by trying to find commonalities between them. If we can find a way for people to use technology to become more spiritual we could achieve this goal. One example of this is creating an application on phones that can give you spiritual advice everyday when you need to hear it most, no matter which religion you follow.
I really like your idea on how to bring people together during the nuclear arms race through art. It's something I never even considered and it's a creative method to promote peace. I think it could be very beneficial in the long run. I also like how your graphic supports this idea by using an artistic portrayal of the war.

ReplyDeleteI agree with the fact that peace will not happen overnight and using art and music as non-violent ways to express is a good way to live although some might not see it that way. The balance of the two realms through an app is very creative and would be a good app.
