Kasie's Blog 4 Post

Chances are, I am going to be the only Debbie downer on this topic, but I’m going to go ahead and go for it anyway.

There is no such thing as perfect people, or a perfect world, and I truly believe that yes, we can strive for more peace, but we will never achieve total peace. As long as mankind walks the earth, that will never happen.

However, I firmly believe in the spiritual thought of peace, and you may bash me, but I am going to go that avenue.

“Peace on Earth.” What a wonderful topic to reflect on! I understand it as “God on Earth.” My definition for peace is “God dwelling on the Earth.” As the Apostle Paul says, our God creates “the bonds of peace” (Ephesians 4:3). To me, the phrase “peace on earth” means living out in the present what is a certain future reality. In doing so, we announce the kingdom of God and demonstrate its reality in our everyday lives.

Rick Warren, a man known for his "Purpose Driven Life" series, that Christians and Atheists have read alot, has come up with a plan for peace, that I really kind of like. It would be nearly impossible, but hey we can dream right?

Warren's PEACE Plan
Millennium Development Goals:

Plant churches
Equip servant leaders
Actually "Lifelong Learning" has been the major UNESCO education goal since the UN agency was founded. Assist the poor
Care for the sick
Educate the next generation

Millennium Development Goals:

*Develop a global partnership for development
*Develop a global partnership for development. Actually "Lifelong Learning" has been the major UNESCO education goal since the UN agency was founded.
*Assist the poor
Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
*Care for the sick
*Reduce child mortality
*Improve maternal health
*Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
*Educate the next generation #2. Achieve universal primary education
*Promote gender equality and empower women
*Ensure environmental sustainability

Attached are some pictures to help illustrate this serious idea of global peace, and they represent each segment in the peace plan.

My images came from google search, (websites, in order: http://www.inspirational-words-phrases.com/images/holding_life_plant.jpg ~ http://evidencesx.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/leaders_overview.jpg ~ http://satnexschool.isti.cnr.it/images/School%20Bus%20-%20Cartoon%207.jpg ~ http://www.thevarguy.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/the-var-guy-sick.jpg ~ http://www.weirdthings.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/all-babies-have-big-mouths-but-not-as-much-as-this-baby.jpg ) and he Rick Warren peace plan can be googled, and I found my information on: http://www.crossroad.to/charts/millennium-goals-peace.htm

In regards to science versus moral, I believe that my views can be best described with this illustration: Think of a marker. To a 2D person, there are circles and there are squares, there is no such thing as them coinsiding, but here in the 3D world we see that they can exhist, like they do in things like markers.
in our 3D world, many try and say that science and moral, or spirituality cannot coincide with one another. I think that God gave us the marker to wake us up, by basically saying "Uh, Duh". And yet we, as a population, seem to miss the mark everytime.

  1. Kasie i agree with your standpoint completely! I truly agree that peace on earth starts with Christ, however i feel like your pictures don't necessarily go along with your blogs? However your argument was great.

  2. Great post, Kasie...very specific. Don't forget you have to cite all those graphics and your source as they are not yours. Also, watch your mechanics, especially in the second post.
