1. The way that I would transform a nuclear arms race to a peace race is very complex. It is something that will take many many years, and cannot be done over night. One step you could take towards transformation is by teaching our younger generations about peace, and about equality, so you can send them off into the world with the mindset of peace. Another step you could take could be preaching to the public about how important world peace is. We could simply suggest mutual arm reductions to all other outcomes. This is an issue that I believe will take a long time and a lot of world cooperation to overcome.

2. In Martin Luther King's essay, he talks about "bridging our gulf between our scientific progress and our moral progress". Which I believe is a statement that really speaks for itself. We as a nation can balance our scientific and technological abundance with living a moral and spiritual life by doing many things. Technology as in computers for instance can bring people together because you can research on world peace, and you can do many things to help others in different countries out. For example, you could donate money online to help the victims of Haiti out after their massive earthquake. Back when Martin Luther wrote this, there were no computers, and now today, computers have a major impact on our lives, and it holds such a wide database for everyone to learn more about religion to peace in their own comfort. Another technological object that can bring us to a more spiritual and moral life is the television. Tv's were also not common back when this essay was written, and now almost everyone in America owns one. It is also a good database to promote and learn about peace, for instance the news or Discovery Channel. Because the computer and tv are so widely used in today's day and age, I believe that if people start preaching and promoting peace and no violence that it could reach out to more people at a faster pace, there just has to be people willing to take that challenge.

Your video was very interesting! Your suggestion for world peace is almost exactly what I wrote. I also think that peace in this world starts with youth. If they are taught to be peaceful younger then we wouldn't have such a problem.

ReplyDeleteHey, I really liked your ideas of how to end the nuclear arms race and promote peace. I also wrote about how teaching the young to be peaceful instead of violent will aid in this attempt to end the nuclear race. However, I don't think that a mutual reduction of arms would be plausible, unless something else is factored into the attempt. just agreeing to mutualism wouldn't work. other than that, nice post.
Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteI agree with a lot with what you had to say in the first question. The younger generations is where it all should start. You probably could have added a picture but other than that, good job!
I think teaching world peace in schools is a good idea! I didn't see where you explained the internal and external lives in his essay for the second question. Over all aswome blog, always a pleasure!! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with your viewpoints! Starting the change in our younger generations is a great start! I think you should include a picture next time though, it would make your argument a little stronger for those that are visual learners.
ReplyDeleteYou make some excellent points and your song certainly supports your position. Education is key to peace in the world. I am glad you mentioned all the good things one can do with the technology out there. People forget that religion has been the cause of so many wars. Effective use of the spiritual and the scientific are what we need to achieve a world community. Excellent post.
