Brittany Ubaldini Blog Post 4

1. I don't really understand this question however I will try my best to answer it. My plan to transform the nuclear arms race into a peace race is by disarming America and the rest of the nations. I would try to create a way for all of the nations to come to an agreement to get rid of their nuclear weapons by persuading the nation's leaders to attend a conference where the American leader persuades and explains why it is important for all of us to disarm our countries. It's obviously not going to be easy to persuade them but if we could convince them us and are allies are completely disarming ourselves maybe the countries we don't get along with or associate with would do the same. We could also make it a point to show that us as an American people aren't as selfish and greedy as other countries may think. We can do this by donating excess food, supplies, and money we don't need to countries that do. Even countries we don't get along with or have been at war with at one point. By helping the other nations selflessly maybe they'll follow the lead and do the same and we won't only tackle war but world hunger and poverty as well.

2. The two realms Martin Luther King speaks about in his essay are, "the realm of spiritual ends expressed in art, literature, morals, and religion" and the realm of "complex devices, techniques, mechanisms, and instrumentalities by means of which we live". As a nation we suffer even more now than we did when he wrote this essay. We can balance our technological excesses with living a moral and spiritual life by combining the two. If we add more spiritual items to our technological devices such as, if you're christian, christian music on your Ipod to help you to praise and worship. If you make it a point to listen to this music and take the time to grow spiritually and escape the technological hustle and bustle we live in, our society will feel much more fulfilled in their spiritual lives. This will also flow into their moral life, because if a person is satisfying their needs spiritually, then they won't have the need to fill the voids that are there when they're unfulfilled. If we use our technological devices for good instead of evil, our spiritual and moral growth will exceed everything else. It's just a matter of self control and discipline to stay away from the evil things that can bring us down or make us feel empty.

  1. I think that you made a very good statement Brittany about saying that we can connect to a more moral and spiritual life by using ipods. I never really thought about that and how people can listen to religious music and connect through that. I also agree with you and said something similar to it in my blog that it is not going to be easy to persuade the world to more to peace arms, and that it will take a lot of time and wont happen ove1r night. Overall, I think you did a great job

  5. I agree with your method on how to promote peace by donating to other countries, even those we are not getting along with because maybe that will make them realize that peace among enemies is possible and encourage everyone to try it. Someone needs to take the lead or nothing is ever going to change.

  10. You certainly seemed to understand the question about what you would do to achieve world peace. I am not sure how realistic it is to think we can disarm the world. It is certainly something to strive for. I loved your choice of Youtube video. Excellent post.
