1. To support an arms race would be to a very difficult task in today's world. The amount of weapons that can be created out of common daily used materials is scary. I feel that if we were to make laws against the sale of guns our world would make bigger strides to peace, but we can't make all of the chemicals used in some of these nuclear weapons illegal. I think that people need to be taught to be peaceful. If we were to be taught young to be peaceful, then we would pass that on to our children and so on. I think that we could avoid these nuclear tragedies by teaching our youth how to be more peaceful.

2. Martin Luther King spoke of two realms of spirituality. They were the realm of spiritual ends expressed in art, literature, morals and religion, and complex devices, techniques, mechanism, and instrumentalities. When this essay was written, there weren't cell phones, ipods, or laptops. These are all ways for us to move away from being spiritual. Music is a big influence on the way some think. We hear what these signers are talking about and think that it is cool to act like them. I am a Catholic so when I hear about some of the things on the news about youths committing crimes it hurts me personally. If someone could have taught these kids to get involved in Church, we may have been able to avoid these crimes. I blame technology solely for all the corruption. YouTube and Itunes are ways that anyone can access any violent act caught on film or audio. We are using technology to get away from our spiritual ends and making bad decisions.

  1. I completely agree with you that if we put a restriction on gun sales and such then we can get one step closer towards world peace. Basically everything you said I agree with because to get to world peace it is going to make any efforts. Great job!

  2. I agree about banning certain things used to make nuclear weapons. But you also brought up a good point, we cannot ban all the materials. I think that this problem will never be completely solved until people as a whole see that we are only going to destroy oursleves. But it was a very good post.

  3. Your answer to the first question was alright, you seemed to lack meaning. However your answer to second question was great. You explained what he said in great detail, and took the time express your opinion on MLK paper.

Hey, I agree that ending the nuclear arms race would be very difficult. I also agree with your options of ending it like making gun laws better and teaching the young. About your second answer though, I don't believe that getting children involved in the church is always a necessary thing to do. there are other ways for the balance to occur without influencing personal rights. other than that, great post.

  5. Generational teachings truly seems to be the heart of what needs to take place, and I am glad you touched base on this. I can understand your desire to have kids be brought up in the church, however I have found that, being brought up in the church often causes people to have a chosen ignorance about what is going on around them. I think unity between world, and spirituality is more of a must. You are completely right though in that we need to bring the arts back, and have greater appreciation for them instead of just our electronic toys.

  6. Yes, if we get rid of guns that is one step to achieving peace in the world. I think we need to assure that we are using technology for the good of man, we can balance science with sprirituality. Spirituality is more than religion, don't you think?
