1. Stereotypes. Its a word that carries just as much of an impact as any other if not more. To stereotype someone, is to judge them without knowing them. Probably the most highly stereotyped people in the world are the arabs. Why? Well simply one reason, September 11, 2001. Nine years ago, and people are still thinking the same way. Some of the children that are stereotyped today, weren't even born yet! Yet just about everyone goes around, and by seeing an Arab, or a Muslim even (due to mistake of identification) they relate them to the terrorist attack. Not every Arab is a terrorist, in fact the majority of them are not and it isn't fair for them to sit back and be judged and be able to do nothing about it. There are so many things that can be done to change all the misconceptions. The picture above that I chose, is a simple message that reads loud and clear: not all arabs are bad. There are Arabs that are here in the United States and try to get jobs and aren't able to due to their heritage, not even their background check. Children are being ridiculed by other children of their age when parents could easily teach their child right from wrong. There are many ways to teach a young child, even by not being a parent that stereotypes. Its just a flaw in the world that can most definitely be fixed, and as much as we all know it can, no action is taken to correct that.

2. My general stereotype I guess would have to be that im shy and because I wear glasses elementary teachers generally liked me more. Which in truth I didnt talk and didnt make a lot of commotion so they had no reason to not like me.

I choose these two images because they represent both what the americans think of the french and what the french think of the americans. I too like most americans believed the stereotype, of french people being cheese-headed, smelly people who never take showers, wear big ugly hats, drive tiny cars, and are always drunk. That is before I met a friend of mine now, Antione. Antione came here from Rhone Alpes France, and speaks fluent french. He came here because his Dad got transferred in the U.S. for his job. Antione said that before he got to the states he knew of the incorrect views Americans had on his culture, but was completely unaware that he too had incorrect views on ours. When describing the Americans the way he thought they were before coming here, the image would have looked identical to the hillbilly in this picture; along with a uncontrollably big Hummer, lots of money, and a twisted and hyperactive ego.
Antione really brought to my attention all of the false things we hear about the french people, like how their women don't shave, and they don't take baths daily. I was enlightened, and I think we should all end up with a friend like Antione in our lives to teach us more about the countries we make fun of falsly the most.
I have actually had two stereotypes placed on me that made by far the most impact on my life. One being that I have aspergers, and the other being "the family computer geek". I lived in a house of fourteen, all various in ages, and everyone in our family had "that thing" we were good at. Mine just happened to be computers, even at a very young age, and I think this label that my family placed on me has its positives and negatives. Positive because I tend to do more work in these feilds as I have more confidence in them than I do others, and the negative because I tend to not go out of this circle of work, as I do not have the same kind of confidence in everything else.
Aspergers was the other label I was placed under, ever since I was seven years old. Aspergers is a disorder in which a child is an extremely intelligent human being, but is quite the social outcast. The child may be liked by many people, but tends to have an extremely hard time communicating with others using the social norms that many take for granted. This "stigma" if you will, has really, in my opinion, stunted my desire to even try to have normal social realtionships. I think though, that there is the positive of knowing that this disorder is only classified if you have an IQ of 150 or higher (mine is 162), helps me to have a bit of confidence in believing that I am capable of learning far more than the average bear.
If you truly think about it, every stereotype has is good sides and bad sides, no matter what anybody says.

1.There are countless stereotypes, both positive and negative, for every ethnic group. For example, one stereotype for the Irish is that they are drunks. Obviously, not all Irish people are drunk since most countries are bound to have drunks. Children should be taught about the contributions that these ethnic groups have made to different facets of life. Learning about what these ethnic groups have contributed will deter the stereotypes that arise from learning about one side of the ethnic group.
2. A label that has been applied to me is "shy". My parents have called me this and so have my teachers. Even my friends , on occasion, have told me I am shy but that's because I don't talk much. I knew I was shy before anyone told me I was, so being called that never bothered me and hasn't had an impact that I have noticed.

1)Stereotypes are always going to be around. We the people can not help it but to stereotype. I know i try my hardest not to but some how one way or another i do it. A Culture that interests me is the Italian culture because i lived there for a year. Italians are constantly stereotyped as violent, ignorant, or somehow associated with the mafia. Being there for a year i know first hand how they are and they are not violent at all. They are extremely funny and fun! I think parents, teachers, and society can do a lot to stop discriminating. As parents they should teach their children to respect all and not stereotype! This is something that we all would have to start from a young age
2)Since i was young i was always called a work horse. But not because i was big and strong but because i would never give up. In sports coaches would love me because i would NEVER stop and i would never let down. I was the hardest worker. And this has effected me in many ways. I try to bring the "work horse" mentality to my everyday life. I try my hardest at everything and i never give up on anything or anyone. It really has made me who i am today.

2) I have always been known as the quiet guy ever sense I can remember. Personally I think this is true. I consider myself as a thinker and an observer. I like to listen to other people talk and learn about other things by listening to them. It is not a negative stereotype and I don’t mind it, so I guess I have nothing to complain about.

1. As I was surfing through the web, I found a website with several stereotype jokes about ethnic groups. One of the jokes was "You know the world is off tilt when the best rapper is a white guy [Eminem], the best golfer is a black guy [Tiger Woods], the tallest basketball player is Chinese [Yao Ming, 7'6"], and Germany doesn't want to go to war [in Iraq]." This is VERY stereotypical. These are the types of stereotypes people talk about everyday. When people think of Germans, they think of Nazis, which defines them as enemies of the world. So you would expect Germans to go into war, because people think they like to kill innocent people from other ethnic groups. But not all Germans are that way. They do not all agree with what Hitler did to the Jews. A way we can stop stereotypes is by parents not teaching their children stereotypes about other ethnic groups. People grow up thinking a certain way about certain groups of people because their families feel that way about those people. Organizations and schools need to let kids think about back at a time they were guilty of stereotyping someone. They need to ask themselves how true their assumptions where when they finally got to know the individual whom they stereotyped. Chances are that their assumptions were proven wrong.
2. One such label that's been applied to me is an artist. The effects that this labeling has had on my life are positive. I love to draw and everytime people see my artwork they admire it. Just the other day, I drew a large picture of my boyfriend and I, and my whole family kept saying, "WOW, she's an artist!" This made me feel really good inside. I felt very complemented and it encourages me to draw more and more. I have a strong passion for drawing, because of the label people give me when they see my artwork.

1) I believe that a good example of a group of people who are seen by a simple definition would be Mexicans. Mexicans, specifically Mexicans in the United States, are often and usually viewed as either poor, illegal, or illiterate. Some of these stereotypes could be a result of many Mexicans having lower ranked jobs compared to other citizens, such as farmers. In reality, a large portion of Mexicans are actually on the opposite side of the spectrum. Many are part of the wealthier class of citizens, many have prestigeful, well paying jobs, and significant amounts are very literate and knowledgeable. Also, not all Mexicans are in the United States illegally. Many are legally given documentation to allow them to be here. The United States allows people of Mexican citizenship to apply for United States citizenship in order for them to be allowed to live in the US and have the same rights as if you were a citizen. Parents, teachers, and society in general needs to take into account the large number of Mexicans in the united states, and realize that even though someone may see some on the poor side, that does not just explain the trend of all of them. This is the case of every ethnicity and the stereotypes that come with them; people take into account a small sample of people of that ethnicity and assign a specific quality to the whole ethnicity.

2) As for a personal circumstance that I have been “defined” as something, I have been looked at as a "class-clown" in many of my previous classes. I was always one of the people who made a class entertaining as well as informative. I have been told this by many of my fellow students as well as many of my past teachers. I am happy with the fact that my peers saw me as a funny person and as someone who “helped them through their class” in some circumstances. Being labeled as a “class-clown,” showed me that I am a person who likes making people happy, whether I do so by telling jokes or by other means. I enjoy other people’s enjoyment, so this “definition” has changed my life to a life of me trying to make others feel great about their classes and their lives in general.

2)My father was born in Mexico, and my mother here in the U.S. Therefore, that clearly makes me Mexican. When I tell people that, the first thing that comes out of thier mouths is, "Well, you don't look Mexican." How exactly do Mexicans look? Dark complected, Long curly brown thick hair, Brown eyes? Then after people try to tell me that I am not Mexican they use it against me. They just assume that since I am Mexican that I can speak fluent spanish. So many times at work my boss would ask me to translate something to a fellow employee and I would have to tell him to find somebody else because I was not fluent enough to complete the eask. Then everybody would moan and say" C'mon, your Mexican. you're supposed to know spanish." really? did i miss that in the "Being Mexican manual?" I'm apparently also supposed to know how to cook spanish food, and enjoy hot sauce in everything i eat, and how to salsa dance. (which I do =] ) Some of these labels has definitely had effects on me throughout my life. I have always tried to get as much sun as I can so that I can "look" Mexican. I ask my dad how to say everything in spanish and try to remember so that next time somebody asks for a translator im there to help! i try to stand behind my aunt or dad or grandma as they cook and try to remember how they make the amazing food that they do. Everybody hates the stereotypes, yet they try their hardest to fit into them. That is irony at its best!

When you think of Arab what the first thing that comes to mind… could it be terrorist? After the 9/11 attack on the twin towers the term “terrorist” has become a familiar definition to the term Arab. After doing some research and looking back I found something interesting. This definition had terrorist involved with it long before 9/11 and Hollywood had a lot to do with it. Here’s a perfect example, “True Lies” with Arnold Schwarzenegger, in the movie he was a spy stopping a terrorist attack by Arabs. Movies such as this influence society that Arabs have a stereotypical definition involving terrorism. Not only movies but also series involve stereotypical judgments such as the series “Lost”. This series had a segment which focused on an Arabian man’s past in his act of torture to punish a woman who had committed treason. The torture he performed was heinous and related to how Americans see their way of punishment in general as cruel. Defining Arab in a stereotypical manner would include terrorist, cruel, unmerciful. Teachers can help by teaching more cultural lessons, explain different cultures and the understanding why and how certain cultures live the way they do. I think activities that require student to think outside the box or to stretch their minds about what certain meanings to words may also communicate to children and help explain the difference between stereotypical and correct definitions of certain people and cultures. Parents can also help by not being bias in front of their children. Most children believe whatever their parents believe, which can interfere with learning what is correct and what is opinionated.
I was known as the “creative one” in the dance department. I was the stare choreographer and always had great reviews of my works. This label affected me with both positive and negative aspects. The label pushed me to be better, to always be on top, but also caused me to stress. If people saw me as being creative I had to live up to their expectations. I had to constantly think up fresh idea that would flow nicely, as well as bring something different to table that no one else had done. That was probably the worst aspect of being labeled; the stress of living up to the label itself. On a positive note, the label had me constantly working my ideas pushing myself to try new things and to work hard.

Italian American's have been stereotyped for years as loud and obnoxious, short-tempered, violent, eating a lot and forcing others to eat a lot, having guilt-tripping and intrusive mothers, and being extremely proud. I believe people try to find their places in society and life and in order to do that they search within their culture's stereotypes. Teachers can help the younger generation with these stereotypes by encouraging the children to try things and do things outside of their comfort level of their ethnicity's stereotype. Parents can help their children by not exemplifying the stereotypes of their race within the household, the younger generation will tend to follow the examples their parents provide. Society can help by being more open minded and less focused on these, mass media and role models of the race can help to change the views by not enforcing them through jokes or acting how their "expected" to act racially. Although I wish we could change many of these racial stereotypes, I don't think it will happen because society is so set in it's ways and people are always going to group individuals into categories, however it is an independent decision a person has to make to not group themself into any stereotype.
2. A label I had for a very long time was "overly religious" and "someone's girlfriend" (I'm going to say someone so I can protect their identity) these two labels coincided and had extreme effects on me. Yes, religion was a huge part of my life however the stereotypes that followed this label effected the way people viewed me, it caused people to assume that just because I had certain morals meant that I judged them for theirs or thought they were going to be"condemned". This was NOT the case at all! I never once voiced these things or preached so I don't know where these people got this from. People thought I was overly conservative and didn't know how to have fun just because I was religious but this also wasn't the case, if the people had just sat down with me and had a conversation with me they would have seen how accepting I was and how I am very liberal with certain things as well. These labels effected me so much that when I got to college I tried to minimize the overly religious label and I got rid of the "someone's girlfriend" label. The "someone's girlfriend" label was so hard because not only did my friends and everyone I knew group me into this category, but so did my parents and family members. I decided I needed to find my own identity and become Brittany Ubaldini not just "someone's girlfriend". Now if I choose to stray away from the "overly religious" label I'm judged and people "condemn" me because I'm not living the perfect life they expect me too. Every mistake I make is closely watched and evaluated and judged. Judgement is basically just ignorance because usually when a person judges all they do is assume. When we judge people we place them into these ignorant stereotypes and labels and can possibly do irreversible damage. The best effect I've experienced from having these labels and getting out of them, is learning that you define yourself and not to ever let anyone else tell me who I am. I am my own me and you are your own you, no one has the right to tell you how you are. I also learned not to judge ever, because you never know what that person is experiencing in their life at that moment or what stereotype they're trying to follow... or get away from.

1. I think a good example of a group that is stereotyped is that of the Chinese/Asian ethnic groups. People of this ethnicity are generally stereotyped as "smart" and very good in math/school. I think one cause of this stereotypical method of people of the Asian decent is because countries for example,China are very advanced in technology. They are a lot more advanced in technology than the United States is, so I think that is why people stereotype them. I also think they get stereotyped about being good in school and math is because they go to school all year long unlike us American kids. I do not think that this stereotype is generally a "negative" stereotype because I would take them as a compliment, but if I had to say how our society can provide a healthy positive image to the younger generation is by just explaining to them that the way some Asian people live their life is a lot different than ours, and that they are more strict and serious about education than the U.S. is, but that does not generally mean they are all "smart".
2. If I had to pick a defining term that I have been labeled I would pick being called "gullible." A lot of times people will tell me something that they are going to do and I always have my hopes up so high for it and then a lot of times I end up getting let down, and also if someone tells me something I will most likely believe it even if it is far fetched. The effects on my life of being called gullible makes it really hard for me to distinguish the line between the truth and a fib. So now that I get called that, I am very skeptical about everything people say, even if they can prove it is right I always will have a doubt about a factor of the situation. I typically think this is a bad quality because now it is hard for me to believe some people.

William Rasberry in his essay The Handicap of Definition makes a plea for providing the younger generation with a more postive, more expansive definition of black.
Answer the two questions below:
1. Do research on another ethnic group which carries with it a limited definition of that group (e.g., Australian, German, Arab, Chinese, etc). How is that group stereotypically defined? What can teachers, parents, and society at large do to impart to the younger generation positive and more expansive definitions of ethnic groups?
2. Like most people, you or someone you know had had a "defining" term applied to you at one time or another. Perhaps you've been called "shy" or "stubborn" or "the class clown" or "the athlete of the family." Focusing on one such label that's been applied to you, explain the effects that this labeling has had on your life.

Type B

1. Gleick's essay revolves around mostly explaining what a type A personality is, and towards the end he adds a little 'blurp' about what a type b personality is but doesn't explain it with enough information for anyone to completely comprehend. It says that a type b personality is the opposite of a type a personality, and with a little research its easy to figure out. A type b personality is someone that is much more easy going, they relax easy and they know the value of the word patience. These people are also very non confrontational, and their rarely ever quick to anger. Their calm, cool and collected and it takes alot to irritate them. They know how to keep themselves from becoming too stressed and when they do get stressed they know how to channel their stress rather then being destructive. If a type a personality becomes overwhelmed at work or with school work they tend to get frustrated and shut down rather then getting anything done, where as a type b personality will make a list of everything they have to do and get it done in an efficient manor without becoming frustrated or stressed.
2. The results for my personality test were ENFP. ENFP's are curious, energetic, adaptable and creative. We like letting ideas float around and come up with a solution thats unconventional and out of the ordinary. We tend to be talkative, enthusiastic, playful, and generally fun loving people, who are warm and caring but have strong personal values. Tend to pride ourselves for our uniqueness and originality, but are optimistic for the "possible." We tend to see significance in al things and keep our options open. After all were only 6-8% of the world.

2. I am an Introvert,Intuitive,Thinker,Perceiver i like to think things out in my head before I react to a situation and im friendly. Apparently I represent 3 to 5% of the populace of the us. I like to argue apparently for no reason just to see how it goes.
"Life as type A" Blog post 2 by Kasie Molnar

I am definetly not a type A personality person, and I think that it can actually be a good and bad thing at times. I think Gleick is correct in addressing how type a personalities can be a bit much, on the aspect of rushing everything, but there are still some perks to a type a personality, like the fact that they typically get things done on time, and arent the type to prcrastinate. I also have to say that there, more often then not, is a type C personality too, where the person exhibits some of type A's rushed traits, (and as gleick mentioned, fast car driving, stair running, fast talking, and hypervigilance) some of type B's mellowed traits, (as gleick mentioned to be the slow car driving, elevator riding, day dreamers) and even a little bit of something totally different. Gleick seems to only touch base on type A and B, but I think that when it comes to the human psyche, there is not only more than what meets the eye, there is also more than just two labeled outcomes.
p.s.- my pictures show a type C person (chilling on the beach, yet still reading a book, and wearing a watch) a type A person (with everything going on at once, two phones, notes whatnot) and then a type B person (doing yoga and meditation)
Rolando Lopez Blog Post 2

1. According to Gleick’s essay, a type B personality is characterized by being under no time pressure and the complete opposite of a type A personality. The essay does not offer more than a few sentences on type B after an essay on type A. Type B is centered around being patient. Type B people don’t hurry and they take time to think about their actions before acting on them, they are more relaxed than their type A counterparts. A person with type B personality is more likely to wait until the last minute to get their work done, in other words procrastinate. These people love to socialize with friends as well as strangers and love being the center of attention. They keep their work and personal lives separate. The relationship that a type B person engages in is more likely to work out well. In short type B people are relaxed, artistic, creative, patient, and imaginative. The judgments of a type B person are more likely based on the emotional appeal of the situation following their hearts in making decisions.

Because of these characteristics, Type B individuals are often described as apathetic and disengaged. I am under the impression that type B people are just the casual laid back type people we see every day! We are in a society where there isnt alot of type B people because every one is trying to beat the clock in their worlds. I know that i am not that type B person because i am hardly ever relaxed, patient, or lack any sense of urgency. I am always fighting with the clock. I think that type B people are the lucky ones that get to enjoy life. They are usually calm and collected and it takes a lot to irritate them. they are rarely overstressed and tend to be more productive rather than destructive when stressed. They are patient and don't mind waiting for things or going at a slow relaxed pace. Type B people are described as apathetic and disengaged. Type B people are relaxed by nature and have no sense of urgency. They have no problems relaxing and just sitting still doing nothing. You might call someone with type B personality a procrastinator because they tend to put off work until the last minute because they can handle the stress and don't get too overwhelmed like a type A personality would.

1.After reading this story, I can definitely tell that I am a type A person. I am always constantly stressed out, and I get even more stressed out when I know I have something to get done and it is not done yet. But then at the same time I always feel hurried and that I never have enough time to do things. I am an example of a type A person. A type B person is the type of person to procrastinate which is the total opposite of me, they rarely ever have time pressure. These people are the type of people that do not really get stressed out and do everything on their own time, as if deadlines for example are not important. These people tend to be very creative and imaginative and I believe the reason for this is because they are kind of living in a fantasy world that everything can be done as and when they want to. Which is what it says in our short story, but I do not understand how people who procrastinate can never be under any time pressure because when you procrastinate at the last minute, most people become really pressured because they feel they do not have enough time. So in my mind, I believe type A and type B are more alike than you think. I think the difference is just how they handle their stress and anxiety.

They will not be destructive under stress, like Type A, but they are more likely to be productive. They take things as they come and are not constantly in a rush. They are in general more patient and calm than Type A and have no sense of time urgency. They enjoy relaxing and are ok with sitting without doing anything. Type B are more likely to put things off or leave things unfinished because they don't get stressed out as much. They are very easygoing people and are able to listen to people talk and let them finish before they start talking. In general Type B people are very carefree and patient.
I took the personality test and my results said that I was a ESFP (Extravert, Sensor, Feeler, Perceiver) they are charismatic, flexible, spontaneous, down-to-earth, talkative, fun-loving, "people people" who enjoy helping others in tangible ways and are gifted at building excitement & enthusiasm. ESFPs have an uncanny ability to notice & remember conversations, facts & details (particularly those that relate to people). They are realistic observers and see and accept things as they are. They tend to trust what they can observe first hand instead of theoretical explanations. ESFPs are excellent at speaking "off the cuff." Naturally sensitive to the feelings of others, they go out of their way to avoid conflict.

Revisit James Gleick's essay Life as Type A on pp. 449-454 of your Longman Reader.
1. Do some research on Type B personality. Write a post of no shorter than 150 words in which you offer a fuller definition of the Type B personality than Gleick's essay provides. Rather than defining Type B through negation, as Friedman and Roseman do, marshal convincing evidence that illustrates the validity of the Type B phenomenon. Write a brief personality sketch of the "canonical" Type B as well as discuss the factors that shape the Type B personality as you define it. Be sure and cite your source.
2. Take the personality test at http://www.personalitytype.com/career_quiz and summarize the results.

Unhelpfull Bystanders

I have been in situations, where something bad has taken place and I think to myself later how everything could have been avoided if only someone had helped me out. There is one specific embarrassing night that pops into my head. I had gotten sick and was surrounded by four of my good friends that were guys, and for some reason I decided to through up on myself. Even more embarrassing was I was on a balcony, and could have easily leaned over the side. However, when I was puking not one of my friends did anything, in fact they called someone else to come outside and get me.
However, there are not that many articles that state there being civilians nearby, that did not spring into action. Usually there is only a note made when one does something “heroic.” Sadly, in this article a cheerleader was stabbed to death, and then was stuffed into a car trunk which was then lit on fire. If only there was an authority figure, or someone nearby that would have acted out to save this young teen’s life. Two of the three male “murderers” were sentenced life in prison, and one has worked out a deal, and another accomplice will only serve 15 years. of course, to Angelia Headrick’s parents, it was a needed and obvious outcome.

Bystanders Saves Kids

Sadly, in this article, 21-yearold women purposely tried to drown her two children in a nearby retention pond. Three civilians acted quickly enough to save both children from their death sentence. Luckily there was a patrol man on duty that was able to wrestle the young but feisty 21-year old and remove her from the pond. When the news crew came on the scene and talked to the police officer, he had reported that the mother openly said she was trying to kill them. She was then taken into custody and is currently waiting trail, for possible two counts of attempted murder charges. As for the two young kids, they are being taken care of by their grandparents. For the most part I think humans do want to help each other out, but most do not know what to do in such situation. However, there are many of them that are to center on their own doings that they do not even realize what is taking place. One time, when I was at the local mall in Ohio, when I walked through the entrance, and a few moments later I notices a lady having a seizer. Even worse, she was by herself on the mall couch in the center of the mall. I quickly ran over, and as soon as I got there two other people did. However one of the local workers that ran over said she noticed it from afar and was shocked no one else had stopped to help, or even took a second look. In a mall full of over a thousand people at any moment, and only three people ran to help.

Interesting video relating towards bystanders:
Although a claim has been stated by Darley and Latane in question two, about the United States becoming alienated from one another, I don’t believe it’s all true. There are always people that rise above society’s brainwashing ways and do the right thing. On Fox News in Oregon a group of men saw a women getting raped as they drove by. The men stopped the car to pull the guy off of her and held the guy until the cops arrived. There are good people out there; it’s just a matter of instincts and not fearing what’s going to happen if you do take action.

1. Explain Darley and Latane's "diffusion of responsibility effect" in the Kitty Genovese case and find a similar case from the newspaper in which bystanders were involved and did nothing. Summarize the other case and provide your personal response to the story. Be sure and cite your source.
I found a very interesting article about a girl who was found passed out near a bench. It turns out she was raped, and nobody called except for this one woman named Margarita. Luckily her call saved her life, she found out by people talking about it. I believe this is very common occurrence, when somebody is shot or raped and nobody does anything. I think its in our natural instincts "the flight or fight response". People are naturally scared to put themselves in a situation that can lead to death. Rather than doing anything about the best chance for the person's survival is to do nothing. If they were to help the hurting person there maybe a chance for the bystander to be hurt, and the by the risk out weighs the reward. It's a selfish instinct that leads many people to fend for themselves. The only way we can stop our naturally responses is by using logic. Putting yourself in that person situation and being the hero needed to save the day. 2. Darley and Latane cite social critics who believe that the United States has become a nation of strangers, alienated and withdrawn from one another. Write a response refuting this claim by summarizing one good Samaritan story from the news in which bystanders did react in a crisis to help someone out. Also, draw on your own or others' experience. Be sure and cite your source for your news story.
I have very interesting about a military nurse saving a cashiers life. The nurse used her knowledge bring back a woman who had no pulse. She took action while others watched her preform her thing. I believe everybody can be hero, its the fear that drives us apart. Given that chance in a situation where somebody can gather their thoughts, everybody can become a hero. You need faith in humanity without it there is not hope for the future. Most people in this world are good, my grandfather saved a mans life one time. I believe it was at a tennis club and the man suddenly collapsed. My grandfathers quick action saved his life, and the man offer my grandfather money. He requested the money be given to charity of his choice. Once again anybody can be hero you just have to give them the chance. (http://www.capflyer.com/stories/022510/news_28218.shtml)
