I chose the Proactiv commercial for many reasons because I think it is a prime example of propaganda targeted at young teens of both sexes. One technique that the advertisers use for this product is that of the "testimonial" because they feature Jessica Simpson in the commercial. The advertisers know that Jessica Simpson is a celebrity that everyone knows of and a lot of girls envy, so they believe that will make kids want to buy the product because they think Jessica Simpson is using it also. Another reason this is targeted towards young teens is because young teens are more likely going to have acne problems and are desperate to find something to solve it, then any other age group. I also think you can argue that they are using the "plain folks" technique too, because they are also putting a huge celebrity in the commercial and having her say "I get acne too just like you, so if you use this product you will have beautiful skin like me". I think that there is a lot of skills being put into this commercial to persuade kids into buying it, because it is a solution to a problem a lot of teens have and it can be a very touchy subject for some of them.

I agree that Proactiv as a company is great at these testimonial interviews with these big celebrities that many teenagers envy. They make it as if they have acne just like all teenagers. I am questionable about the "plain folks" propaganda though because all the testimonials are from celebrities, but I am not exactly sure what other propaganda it could be. These commercials are all great examples.
