1. Darley and Latane explain the case involving Kitty Genovese to be that of a woman who is returning home from work and is brutally stabbed by a man and ultimately leads to her death because of it. While this doesn't seem like a normal situation, the fact that 38 neighbors watched the entire event happen and remained silent and refused to get help for the young woman, seems even stranger then the attack itself. The question of why the neighbors didn't phone for help seems to be the topic on everyones mind; and when they were asked why they didn't help, they claimed that they didn't want to get involved. Selfish? I think so. Something so simple as picking up a phone and calling the police, or even being daring enough to try to help her after she was stabbed the first time; any small amount of effort could potentially have saved her life. It just goes down to being morally responsible and a caring indivual. It wouldn't have killed anyone if one person had just done the right thing...literally. After reading this an article, I instantaneously think of an incident that happened in California just late last year where a girl was gang raped outside her high school dance while multiple people watched and even took pictures. I couldn't believe it when I heard of this on the news, it just goes back to the sense of morality, apparently they found it more "entertaining" to take pictures and laugh instead of keeping a girl from being scarred for life. However this instance in California also proves to me that society doesnt change, regardless of how many years there are between.

3. A program that first comes to mind is something called "RAD Systems: Rape Aggression Defense." Its a program that offers classes for women and young teens that teach them self defense tactics and techniques. It is a comprehensive course that begins with awareness and prevention through hands-on defense tactics.
