Ever sense this commercial was made in 1979 people have been praising it as one of the best commercials of all time. In my opinion it uses the perfect types of propaganda to grab your attention. As you saw from the clip, the boy gives Joe Green his Coke and it makes him a happier person. This ad uses “testimonial” as well as “plain folks” propaganda techniques. The commercial shows that people ranging from hall of fame football players to little kids love the taste of Coke. It’s not surprising to me that the Coke Company is one of the best marketing companies in the world. With one commercial (the one I posted) they were able to target every type of person for this product. In the process they were able to develop one of the most beloved television commercials of all time.

  1. I do agree with you that Coke uses very good propaganda skills to promote their product, and I think millions of people are persuaded by them to purchase the product. The commercial does use a good "plain folks" method by showing that average people to big time celebrities enjoy the product, which will make the viewers want to also enjoy it.

  2. I remember watching the commercial when I was younger and thinking that Coke was awesome because football players drink it also. This commercial I think uses "plain folks" propaganda because of the fact that the boy is giving the coke. Coke is a huge company that use smart propaganda in their advertisement making the customers more likely to consume more of their product.

  3. I remeber seeing this commercial. I think that the plain folks approach is true, and it is the most correct. Just another good approach that could have been used to describe this commercial was "transfer". Joe Greene was one of the best on the field, coke uses this to associate themselves with the best in the business.
